Hi Guy,

You could try rubbing in some pure lanolin.  You can usually get it at a
tack and feed store in a small tub.  I had to do that some years back on the
side window rubber on our Greenbrier.  Softened it up some but if is baked
hard as a rock like some you find on cars that have been out in the desert
for 30 years, it won't do much good.
