Yup, I know EXACTLY the sound you're talking about. It's the fan hub bearing 
running dry. You can try lubing it with the special tool just made for that, 
or if it's too far gone, replace the bearing.

  Smitty Says:  Harry is right you can grease it but no bearing makes a noise unless and until it is physically damaged.  Which means it can not be repaired.  Changing it is the only way to get reliable future service out of it.
