Well, what "saved" my '61 Greenbrier with 27k was a bad flywheel. Previous owner put in a barn in '76 and I revived a few months ago.  To the ininitiated a loose flywheel sounds a lot like an expensive engine rebuild.  In the past 18 months replaced flywheels in 4 recently purchased Corvairs.
