Tamias makes some good, if one-sided, points in his diatribe, along with some falsehoods -- I am not going to try and sort it all out here.

One would want to fully investigate the options now available in the VW aftermaket for engine (and transmission) parts (new cases, cranks, and all sorts of hp goodies) -- before deciding on going Vair or VW power in a 912

He also forgets to mention that a lot of 912 powerplants are finding their way into the venerable 356. Noted that the 912 engine is nearly identical to the VW type IV, so since one could put the far less expensive T IV motor in a 912 (or 356), why do they sit with empty engine bays? Ahhh, Porsche mystic!

Tamias' best point -- "More important, have fun."
