Aren't we talking about Rochester HV's??  If so....you need to buy a book!

No such thing.......or do you have Solex 34picts'??? [ 68 Volkswagen ]

The screw at an angle that is threaded INTO the carb, is FUEL!!  Start at 2-3 
turns out.

You do NOT balance  with Fuel!!   ONLY AIR!!!   The Screws  that are in the 
linkage on the carbs... they open and close the throttle plate...

You did have the linkage at the drivers side carb  removed from the crosshaft 
while Balancing?
