Going to lightweight wheels and narrower tires also will up your mileage
considerably ...  and as a partial reward, will give you better traction in
the winter snow and ice ....
........ and yes, water injection * can * increase mileage, maybe 1 mpg by
some magic thing it seems to do .. and even more by letting you use more
advance without piston/ring damage ...

adjusting your idle mixture a lot leaner would help, but I think that would
be dangerous, especially around town, where a rich idle helps  " sudden
acceleration" , needed when someone is detected running his red light
...etc. etc.  (g) ...

a possibility to consider is if you have an automatic, selecting nuetral at
red lights ... or McDonalds out-windows .... MIGHT give better mileage ....
would your carburetor know the difference ????
