Maybe so; it would be (for me, anyhow) more of a pain to fabricate all  those 
strips, then rivet them together than to make a mold and cast the  parts.  
What's more, the casting lends itself more easily to making several  of them in 
a batch--you would like one if they work out the way they should,  right?
