Well, you certainly could be correct about this, but please remember that  
GM, and certainly Chevrolet, NEVER released any data/numbers that would indicate 
 they spent $.90 to make a $1 on the Corvair. That is just a WAG. Since no 
cost  data was ever released on the Corvair, GM might well have made a healthy 
profit  on each and every Corvair. That is especially true since each Corvair 
sale was  an addition to the revenue and was not made at the sacrifice of other 
GM sales.  The Corvair brought in customers that might well have never 
entered a Chevrolet  showroom otherwise.
