Combine Rally and Economy Run?
Has the person who has spoken these words ever created and managed either of
these events?????
Until then, the discussion is pointless.

An economy run to be efficient has to start at or near a gas station. It
must end at a gas station.
An economy run is best run through all types of driving, country roads are
great, but most country roads have traffic too that can be held up by cars
going under speed limit. Some expressway to encourage some higher speed, and
some stop and go where the participant can be simply unlucky and catch a few
lights.

The end of the econo run can become a bottleneck due to a line at the pumps.

Each event is scored for Cole competitors, a delay or problem in one can
cause a scoring problem in another.

Convention "workers" are very often stretched thin with some people working
an event one day also working an event the next day, and not able to
multi-task. Combining the events would require more workers and there may
not be enough to go around. I am sure anyone who has ran any type of event
has found himself short handed without adding to the problem.

An economy run is best run on a Saturday as it is the easiest event to
score, with less participation than the rally.

Shorten the convention by a day? Detroit seemed too short for me, too many
things to do not convention related, I wish I had more time
there......................
