Check oil on level surface with the engine off for at least a few minutes. 
The clack is because the lifters are not fully pumped up.  You can pretty 
much ignore it.  How long since your last oil/filter change?  Maybe you are 
due.  PG car?  Check tranny fluid with engine running.
