The table of contents subheading for Jim Donnelly's column is "What if a
Classic came later?"

The column is titled "There's Life After 1948" and a quote in the margin
reads "it's always a little disappointing that the CCCA has shut the doors
to post-1948 cars..."

He goes on to mention "a sampling of a few that might become Full Classics
if the rules unexpectedly changes" The cars named are a 1948 Hudson
Commodore, 1951 Chrysler New Yorker Newport, 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, 1957
Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner, 1960 Chevrolet Corvair, 1963 Stedebaker Avanti,
and 1965 Buick Riviera.

Of the Corvair he writes "Bar none, the most radical, unconventionally
packaged, breakaway American car built since World War II. The Corvair took
themes that were ostensibly the protected turf of outlanders and made them
its own. Where to start? Rear-oriented powertrain, horizontally opposed
engine, air cooling, fully independent suspension: It was light years ahead
of every other American car..."

But we already knew that :)
