What the book says

1. Remove rubber gasket at filler next.

2. Raise and support front end

3. Drain tank

4. Remove front stabilizer bar

5. Remove tank straps

What it means in my garage
0. Drive the car as close to fumes as you dare (gas gauge does not work).

1. Push that gasket in (40 year old rubber)

2. Put on ramps, chock the wheels, turn

3. Find sypon does not work, clamp line from tank, put down cardboard,
put your gas can into a pan. Remove rubber line from fuel line end
(have that gas splash on you)... Score extra points for remembering to
turn off the heat, if not bang head trying to get to the heater.
Carefully drain all the fuel out you can (my case 4 gallons), trip over
your own feet taking it out of the garage.

4. Remove stabilizer bar. Loosen the only two bolts on the bar that do
not need to be removed.
Break the remaining bolts (have rust flakes get past your goggles), bang
head again when trying to avoid the rust.

5. break bolt holding on strap.

6. Have tank land on head.

4. Remove front stabilizer bar

5. Remove tank straps
