Thanks Bryan, I got under it with the engine on and wheels turning with a
piece of tubing to my ear. The transaxle has a chunky gear rotation sound
but there is also a heavy rattle coming from the bottom of the bellhousing.

Looks like it is all coming down for a better look.

I had a similar sound in the van - turned out to be a loose pinion.
