Not that early. The 959 had wet heads. Purely because 4 valves per cylinder  
and their ports took up WAY too much fin area, and blocked too much cooling 
air  flow. There may have also been some race engines made this way. 
Still, if you're going to water cool the heads, why not the whole thing?
