You can beg, Padgett, but you are wrong -- the *most* important safety 
item is the driver's attitude, closely followed by the driver's skill -- 
that means the driver is aware of and has experienced (in a 'safe 
location') the limits of  the total vehicle's performance (including 
tires) and does not exceed some mythical safety margin %-age of that 
point on a public hiway. That's why they call it a 'Margin of Saftey', 
so you've got some reserve. 

Yeah, if'n ya wanna drive balls out down the roadway, ya need good tires 
(probably better than ya got). If'n ya ain't got good tires, drive 
within their limits. Same for brakes, visibility, stopping distance, etc.

Tires don't do a thing fer ya on a dark and stormy night if'n ya ain't 
got brakes,  wipers, & headlights to match ...

It is not the gun that kills, but the shooter.   Most folks that live on 
the edge die out there, too.
