The book Zane is probably thinking of is the Rochester Carb book by the 
late Doug Roe, himself formerly of RPD. It's a good book covering 
general carburetor theory and the ins and out of a bunch of different 
RPD carbs, especially the Quadrajets.  I *think* the Corvair carbs have 
some coverage, but to get to nitty gritty information specific to Vair 
carbs (like how the 63s were different from others & all the varied 
permutations over the years) you are better off getting something Vair-
specific.  I don't have Bob Helt's carb book, but if it's like his 
other books, it will be excellent.
