<VV> Herb Berkman

I went to Herb Berkman's memorial service today in Brighton, CO.  It was a 
real nice service orchestrated by Christy Barden who a lot of you know.  
Christy was in Rocky Mountain CORSA and a flying club with Herb.  He was 
also a friend of Herb and Jonnie's for 35 years.   I think I first met Herb 
at the 1989 Fan belt toss, in Palm Springs.

I did get to see some of the other CORSA/ VV members who flew in,   I'll let 
them post that they were there.  I gave Jonnie condolences from everyone who 
asked.  She's holding up as well as can be expected under the circumstances. 
  She has had a very good support group including her daughters, sister in 
law, Christy and some members of their RV club.   Steve Goodman along with 
saying a lot of good stuff about Herb, said he would miss the car, Jonnie 
said she is keeping the car (2X Cole winner) and she will be bringing it to 
Steve to maintain.

I gave a short eulogy about Herb being a past president of CORSA during a 
real trying time and how his passing would be a big loss to CORSA.  I wish I 
had better dates and accomplishments but hadn't planned to speak, so I 
didn't do any research.

The one thing that came a cross is Herb died doing what he loved.  If we 
have to go early, it's best to go doing what you love...

Herb will be missed, by his Corvair friends, Aviation friends, his RV 
friends and everyone else who knew him.  May he rest in peace.
