Hey all
Okay, so my bright idea of installing a hurst shifter for a powerglide was a good idea...in theory. We haven't installed it yet, because we came into conflict with a few concepts unique to the corvair. 1. the cables to use for both are very different: the Hurst uses an screw in fit for external linkage while the corvair use the internally inserted ball fit. No problem really, you just use the covair cable. 2. They shift in the opposite direction (ex. I'm seeing that when you select reverse for the corvair, it pulls the cable in, while the hurst shifter pushes the cable out for reverse-at least that's what I'm seeing, correct me if I'm wrong). That's a pretty big problem that I'm not sure how to deal with if it's true. the other one I just thought of is a question. Are the selector distances (meaning the distance that the corvair pulls the shifter cable versus the distance say a Nova or Impala) the same for all powerglide transmissions regardless of the car they came off of between 1960 and 1970? Please let me know ASAP, thanks
