Sorry to say, better believe it.  :(

My experience says the log has to be at least loosened and dropped about an 
inch.  You can't get the front shrouds on/off w/o the logs being down about 
an inch.  If you donuts are old, they'll most likely crack and disintegrate. 
  Have replacements on hand if you're looking to be back up that day.
