<VV> Vacuum brake booster

Booster not needed.

Larry Claypool has said to have installed one, but probably "just to do
it" not as a necessity, as he has repaired thousands of Corvairs w/o
boosters.

Doran should be able to lock up the brakes on Garland's coupe with no
trouble. Or is that the problem, lockup is easy, soft braking is not?

The brakes should not be THAT much different feeling than vacuum boosted
brakes. I didn't drive Garland's coupe last year when I bought his
Spyder, so I don't know if maybe these need a little work to act
correctly. Have another Corvair driver drive it and see if there is
something that needs attention. I have seen the pistons stick in the
wheel cylinders and that will make the pedal very hard.

The only difference I know is when I started driving on full sized
Chevys w/o power brakes, one placed the whole foot on the brake pedal,
whereas with power brakes, I rest the heel of the foot on the floorboard
(and make a divot in the carpet :-( ) and just press the brake pedal
with the toe of the foot. Have Doran use his whole foot, not just the toe.

Doran will drive the car to high school starting the end of next month, and continue using it until the blue hot rod is done. However, he is having real problems getting used to the unassisted brakes (I could do a rap about how spoiled and soft todays kids are, but it's not worth the effort). So I'm thinking of installing a vacuum booster --- probably not on Garland's car, but on the blue car that will be Doran's permanent ride.
