<VV> '67 turn signal

Anyone have step-by-step procedure for replacing my
turn signal switch?  I have gotten to the part where I
am going to have to remove the cast piece  of metal
that the switch is attached.  Can't figure out to get
this cast piece off.  Switch plug can't be threaded
through the opening without the cast piece being
removed.  Also the housing that the wire goes through
as it goes down the steering column is a problem.  I
have Tech guide and revision and a '65 shop manual.
