Okay, you guys have convinced me that my 65 '500' series NEEDS a spoiler
badly....

Maybe (probably) - It is a cheap, easy-to-reverse, action - Can't say that
about many mods!

Many people have recommended a '69 Camaro' design spoiler.

Who carries those?
Corvair Underground - And all Camaro parts suppliers (Underground has the
lowest price, though)

Also re wheels: I'm sort-of 'zeroing-in' on a 15X7 inch Camaro wheel to
put on her.

But I've heard some mutterings that you need four FRONT wheel rims because
there are backspacing issues with the rear Camaro rims (less backspacing on
back perhaps?).

No - That is only a problem with 1985-1992 16 x 8 IROC-style Camaro wheels
(and their Pontiac GTA equals) The 15 x 7 Camaro aluminum wheel 1982-1992
Z28s and RS fits all around on the late model Corvair - It does limit your
choice of front tires a bit - because of the width, not the backspace.

What's the lowdown on that issue?

Is backspacing less of an issue on the 15X6 wheel?
Might be, depending on the backspace of the 15x6 - As I recall, the only
Camaro 15 x 6 wheel was the stock steel wheel on the 1967-68 Z28 Camaro. A good
original set of those is probably worth more than your Corvair - to the Camaro
restorer. The 15x6 will usually fit, though.

Are the 15X6 wheels hard to come by (all the ones I see on ebay are 7's)?

See above -but 15x6 reproductions are available - and not too expensive. The
Camaro aluminum 15x7, widely available in your local Mini-ads, and a perfect
fit, are the bargain.

You should not use either the Camaro lug nuts (Metric) or the Corvair lug
nuts (7/16" x 20 but the wrong angle to contact the wheel.) Look for 7/16 RH x
20 "Bulge Nuts".
