<VV> Corvette Arises (Some Corvair)

I think that most of the price of a modern Corvette is for "prestige" of
owning one.

Back then, it was an eccentric pleasure, a weird little care and very
strange if you think about it. Chevy took a big chance making such a
curmudgeonly little care.

I bought my first Corvair (Corsa 140 convert) with the deposit that was
(eventually) refunded from the 1968 Mustang 302/345 I had ordered but was
cancelled by the dealer (who tried everything to keep the sale, offering
427s, 428s, etc, but my buddy's Corsa coupe had hooked me !)

The 2 1/2 year Corsa convert cost $1000; the same as the deposit on the
Mustang ($5800, most for the engine, if I recall correctly), which would
have saddled me with 3 years of payments on top of that.
