In the case of that 1962 "chop top" that had " the top removed" it could be 
ambiguous, depending on whether the top *mechanism* was removed from a 
convert, or the coupe's top was cut off.

The pix say it all, though, being worth a thousand, or in this case half a 
dozen, words.
