While getting a tech inspection at the Dallas convention in'95 for the concours, I was asked to push the lighter in to be sure it worked.  That was fine except they did not wait to see it when it came back out. What happened was it stuck in and was forgotten.  As I was driving away I smelled something hot and a bystander also smelled it.  I realized the lighter had stuck in and was about to melt everything near it.  I couldn't pull it out by that time so I pulled the wire off from under the dash.  It was forever stuck in there and I never did replace it. A lesson learned and I think an line fuse would be a good idea for something that does not have a fuse in the fuse box.  Ken Clark

Howdee, Seth pointed out that there is no fuse on the lighter circuit. True. I reread my "epic" and I want to point out it's supposed to be 25,000 miles not cigars. Sorry for the confusion and the image of me down the highway with a plume of cigar smoke fogging all the lanes of traffic behind me.
