Carbs are carbs....do what you like..several run the  1bbl Webers and love 
them.....other makes have worse turn cutout then the Rochesters...just cannot 
remember which ones...

 On your existing 2bbl...Your jetting is way too rich...  0.062"  and 0.068"  
  Try   slightly smaller to see if it still masks the Detonation.....if it 
does...check mileage...

Also I've had real good luck running the B7's....jetted rich and no 
fouling...
