When I bought my car two years ago ('66 Monza Coupe 110/PG), I was pretty
green about decoding the VIN plate and Fisher body plate. The only thing I
could see evidence of being non-original was the exterior color.
Two years and much reading later, I am happy as a ... well, as a Corvair
owner with a car on which the tags agree, and everything that should be there,
is.
So... on to the engine block code. Yes, it is the correct "RH" code for a
"66 car w/PG - but from what I've researched, they built "RH" coded 110s for
three years; so how to tell if it is THE engine it left the factory with. I do
not have any original sales documents or a build sheet.
Idea: Since the engine block is numbered with a build date, and the body
plate is coded for the build week, I figured they should be reasonably close if
original. Here are mine:
BODY PLATE = First week of May (05A)
ENGINE BLOCK= May 2nd (T0502RH)
That close?
>From Tonawanda to Willow Run; into and out of a railroad box car, and into a
finished car before the week was over?
If any of you are as intrigued as I am by the details of regular production,
and the codes that provide a window into it - as I am, let me know what you
think.
  Thanks,
  Matt from L.I.
  ('66 Monza Coupe 110/PG)
