<VV> "low mileage" Corvairs and any vehicle old enough to be titled as "odometer exempt"

It seems that every Tom, Dick, and Harry with any older vehicle listed for sale in any marketplace: ( e-bay, autotrader, hemmings, craigslist, etc. (virtually all potential markets), is listed as 'low mileage' . Most often these cars are listed as 'actual mileage' when there is absolutely No Way to substantiate such a claim. The exempt status frees the unscrupulous characters to make up anything. The Corvair community is probably one of the more upstanding of any of the antique marques, as many owners of the finest Vairs are still two owner or one owner vehicles, it seems, or at the very least -there usually is a well documented history. The state by state titling laws and/or lack thereof in this country allow for easy title laundering. Vehicles old enough to be labeled mileage exempt are routinely rolled back, zeroed, dash cluster changed during a restoration. This abuse is rampant among the high dollar muscle cars and
vintage European sports cars. Be skeptical of any old vehicle, Corvairs included, that claims to be low mileage or actual mileage in which can not be proven through ownership history and records! Just like your mother often told you when you were a young child, If it sounds too good to be true... As Joe Friday was known to say, "just the facts, maam".
