.Once, while accelerating in third and once in fourth, the car bucked once,
really hard. I was totally surprised by the jolt. It was as though
something killed the ignition for a moment and then switched it back on.
.does anybody have any ideas. Just the day before it pulled happily to 6000
RPM with 10 lbs of boost.

Thanks in advance, Jim

Jim you may have several different things happening. The ignition components
may be dying as you suggest, or the ignition is there but the fuel load
and/or the amount of boost may be too great for the ignition at one point in
the boost acceleration curve. This will require detective work on your part
to determine what is happening. If the carb is too rich at one point? The
ignition may not ignite the fuel, check the accelerator pump as one
possibility. You mentioned 10 lbs of boost the previous day is this coming
on suddenly and the ignition can not keep up? How is the mechanical advance
curve of the distributor in relation to the boost are they in sync? How are
your plugs and wires? Is your plug gap too big for a turbo? Others may add
more to the ideas to explore.
