Dropped the pan. Sho nuf, the tine had bent again and was behind the
detent piston nut. I coaxed it past the nut (no easy task with one
arm and two moving parts), rebent the tine to 90 degrees (was 45),
and the linkage slipped back into its normal position. I replaced
the pan, filled the tranny with fluid, and used rubber bands to
secure the throttle linkage at the transmission pan. I then drove
to the local FLAPS and purchased a set of e-clips. I returned home,
placed the clip on, and all is well so far. I even used a rubber
flange type devise and an o-ring to shore up the sloppiness in the
cross rod. The acceleration seems much improved. I took it for a
spin on a stretch of road near the house that has the prerequisite
curves and elevation changes to make it a thrill to drive sportily
on. The car handled great.
