I'll second that and add a third for the rear housing gasket.

If the oil pan was leaking, it will leak with the engine off.

If you use RTV on a cork oil pan gasket, use it very sparingly. It tends 
to lubricate the gasket and cause it to pouch out when tightening the bolts.
