Dennis' $0.02. 140 heads drop seats more often than any other Corvair head. 140 heads can be modified with deep valve seats and when done by a shop with Corvair experience they should not come out again. I spent about $1000 with a Corvair shop to have the heads on my Greenbrier done. This was for seats, premium valves, guides and fly cutting. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. I'll tell you the name of the shop off list if you want, but this was 12 years ago and the Corvair shop didn't do the work they sent them to a machine shop. They may or may not being using the same shop today and the quality may be different. In my 65 coupe with the 140, I never spent the money and have dropped two seats. The first one I exchanged for a rebuilt head at M&J Vairmart in San Jose. That head has a beautiful job of staking the seats. The second time, on the other head, I paid a lot of money to a machine shop to weld in new metal around the seat and put in a new one. I have a lot more faith in the heads on the van engine than I do in the coupe. Take it for what it is worth, 140 heads can be reliable but it is not cheap. Dennis
