What about counterfit tags?

I don't totally understand all the hype about Stingers. Sure the ones with race history or the ones that actually came from Yenko Chevrolet are truely special cars. But I don't understand how or why a "tag car" can be worth so much more than another Corvair that was perpared the same or even better, especially if it has never even seen a race track. The sole purpose of the tags was to allow Corvair to race. As BigWave pointed out, any Corvair could have gotten a tag.
