I believe it may be easier than you think, since you may be able to all the 
"disconnects" (except the front and rear engine mounts) with the car up.

Then, after all the loose stuff is well, loose, then you can left the car 
off the engine, and leave in on a "sled" or something, then slide it into 
the back of a pickup, wagon, or what have you.

Should be a minimum of "heavy lifting" if I remember correctly (did one all 
by myself once, in and out.)

Just a thought, and I'm sure someone who's done one more recently could give 
the details, and correct my re-memory ?

Sounds like the engine may be well worth saving, too.
