I registered mine as "special interest". They sent me a special sticker to
use with the original Pacific Wonderland plates (that I fortunately saved,
the state of NV wanted me to turn them in when I registered it there in
'86). You do not have to use the plate that came with the car, but it has to
be the correct style of plate used when the car was new.

I think it cost around $75 for lifetime registration - and you only need one
plate. Title fee is $55 if you need it, a special interest "gold" plate is
either $5 or $10 dollars depending on the current registration of the car
(you get one of these plates if you don't have a "good" original plate). So,
your guess pretty close. There are restrictions to what you use the vehicle
for, but there's always a club meeting somewhere. :)
