<VV> re- 1969 quality\1968 quality

I dunno about 1969 quality, but my 68 500 must have been built by
people who hated it. The windshield pillar padding had extra screw
holes. Someone sprayed black rubber compound every which way, which
ultimately detached, held water and rotted the A-pillars, the kick
panels must have leaked because the floors rusted through under the
mat. The 140 setup was wrong from the start (pinging, jerking,
surging), and local Chevy did nothing (I had to to set and sync
myself. learning all the time). There was a clunking rattle inside
the left rear fender that was solved on my many visits at the
unwilling Chevy dealer.
The doors were set far too tight and one window was slightly cocked.
The trunk lid was far too tight.
At least the steering wheel was on straight.
And that's just the complaints on build quality. I won't discuss my
various complaints about the safety "improvements." Suffice it to
say that I'm much happier with my "early lates." -ron 65,66
