<VV> Lifter woes.

Hearing of the ongoing problems with the difficulties in removal of the 
lifters.
I can only be reminded of my days back when I worked in a garage.
We had a series of 307 chevy engines with soft cams and bad lifters.
The cams would wear, and actually wear into the lifters to the point where 
they would actually wear through the lifters effectively peaning them over.
It wasn't varnish, and we spent countless hours trying to remove these 
lifters with lifter pulling tools.
It was not pretty, and I cannot offer any quick and easy suggestionss.
But sometimes it took us removing the guts and getting vise grips attached 
to a slide hammer to remove them.
