<VV> Early Model Winshield gasket Problem

I have a friend that has installed new gaskets both front and rear and is having a real water leakage problem. This is the second set of (expensive!) gaskets he's purchased - two different manufacturers - and is still having torrents of water coming in. Both times they were installed by professionals who have installed windshields for him before.
Any suggestions on how to solve the problem??
