<VV> Turbo throttle linkage sticking wide open

All,

I've had this problem before over the years and beleive it to be the rear throttle body butterfly shaft clip retainer which has a coat hanger-sized wire linkage to the back of the carb (viewed from rear of car). Seems this coat hanger-wire linkage shifts rearward within the clip and causes binding which hangs up throttle return to idle.

I loosen the screw and insure the "D" hole in the clip is engaged and the wire is free but not sure if it is totally fixed. Is there a fool-proof way to fix this? Has the wire linkage into the carb come loose or? Grease the coat hanger wire within the clip? Peen the wire end outside the clip?

If this ever happens to you, don't panic, pick your spot and turn off the ignition and coast to a stop.

Thks,
