Racers of late model Corvairs have been using fiberglass replacement  
"bumpers", where legal in their classes. A Corvair front bumper is probably the  
easiest part to repro in glass, and the rear is almost as easy.
They are "bumpers" in name only, though. Of course, if you wrapped them  
around an appropriately contoured and supported 1.5" diameter, 1/8" to  3/16" wall 
steel tubing . . . . . - then you would have a  bumper!
