Well, at least it is rated for use with air, unlike other plastic pipe 
products! gggg

As JVHR says, these fittings are used in industrial air piping, 
especially on 1/4" sized lines for instrumentaion, etc. The tubing is a 
nylon or polyethylene. See McMaster Carr catalog pages 109 and 110. Some 
is VERY  high pressure air rated.

The brochure you gave a link to is interesting. One picture is of the 
air outlet set into a stud wall, where the drain valve will be hidden by 
sheetrock!

You can always use regular plumbing fittings at the air outlets just 
like you would for copper or galvanized, just with a transition fitting 
to go from poly to NPT threads. Black iron is not recommended for air 
lines due to rust from the high moisture content of compressed air. 
Especially for us east coasters! Black iron is good for gas service as 
gas is dry.
