<VV> Engine Case ID

Western Canada CORSA westerncanadacorsa at shaw.ca

Funny this should come up. I'm in the process of doing a 3.1L build up for
my Rampside, and I have an identical block, same weird stamping code on
mine.

LM Ribbing, FC oil hole is open, AS IS the car dipstick tube.

Replacement blocks?

Regards,
Joel

Well as its Corvair related, I'll reply to the group.
Thanks to Mark's Detective work It must be a 164ci motor (That was the
only option in '68 right?)
But that still leaves the Car vs. FC question. I'm a little dense about
what I'm looking at, so here are some pictures of the motor.
  Here's the ID Number.

Is this the large hole that would denote an FC block?

  Are these the Horizontal Ribs?

In any case, this isn't a desirable block to anyone restoring a corvair,
right?

  Thanks,
  Eric

Engine ID's are on the flat surface that the Top cover bolts to...near the
fuelpump area.

STARTS with TO xxxxxx

1 does it have a large hole on the right side above the lifter holes? [ FC
case]

2 Does it have Horizontal ribs between the # 5/6 bores and the Bellhousing
surface? [ 164 ci......] smooth case is old 145..
