<VV> SAVE YOUR OLD KEYS !!

Keyless entry system fobs are the mechanics best friend - I've noticed they
no longer have a board full of keys anymore - they simply "beep" your car to
find it.

This works for losing your key fob, too, when the lucky person can now just
beep your car, and off he (or she, to be PC) goes, off to Mexico.

I once found a nice key fob for a new Escalade asked in the restaurant, "Who
owns that car ?" as I beeped it.

My car was stolen when I lost mine, and someone actually saw the guy get off
his bicycle, pick up the fob, beep my car, and leave his bike when he drove
off in my car. When the police came, they admitted what they saw but it
never occurred to them to say anything to anyone in the restaurant where the
owner (moi) obviously must have been. The cop just rolled his eyes.

The interesting thing is that I get a discount on my car insurance for
helping him steal my car ! (I got it back when he "traded" it in for a Ford
F-150 a few days later.)

Key fobs are no panacea. When we lived in Albuquerque we had a Ford E150
and my key fob would also unlock the doors on the Crown Vic that always
parked in the same area as us. I would unlock our van we would get in and
then I would relock the other car.
