<VV> 1964 automatic transmission cable.

I have a 1964 convertible  that has been having problems with the 
transmission cable. It is leaking fluid  all the time I replaced the cable and put a new 
o ring on it ands it still  leaks. Any ideas?? How do I fix the leak without 
replacing the  cable?
