Hello Doug,

Have you checked all of the rubber fuel lines?  I have had them deteriorate 
(modern fuels) and crack.  If the line is below the tank it will usually 
leak, but the line in the left rear fender well is up high.  A small crack 
there may not leak but could allow the pump to suck air intermittently.
