Use 3m Release Agent or its current equivalent.  Spray it at the end  as you 
slowly pull the rubber up.  It will come off cleanly if you give the  stuff a 
little time to work.  Very little if any scraping required after  you have it 
off and it is a lot easier than trying to scrape it all off.   Try a paint or 
body shop supply house.
