Hey Gang,

We have 2 and a half weeks left before the 2008 Convention. As you know,
this year it is being held in Ventura CA, North of Los Angeles. The convention
and host hotel is on the beach and may be the most picturesque location of a
convention in recent history. We realize that many CORSA members wait for
the last minute to register but you need to know that there are numbers
limitations on the tours and activities. Don't miss out on these tours and
definitely do not miss out on the convention. Here's the status on tours and
activities.

Vandenberg Air Force Base Tour- Closed (Monday, June 23)
We have reached the max # of people permitted by Vandenberg.

Universal Studios- 18 openings left (Tuesday, June 24)
Universal is a combination amusement park and movie/TV studio. This is
where many of your favorite TV shows and movies originate and the studio tour is
great. Also, it is a world famous amusement park with rides, shows and
entertainment related displays. There are also some great restaurants, souvenir
shops, etc.

Wine Tasting Tour- 23 Openings left (Wednesday, June 25)
As you must know, California has some of the best wine regions in the world.
Some of us believe it is THE best. This is your chance to make up your own
mind. The tour will include a very knowledgeable guide who will tell you
about the area, its history and about the wineries we will be visiting. For
those of you who enjoyed the popular movie, Sideways, this is where it was
filmed. Even for those who do not enjoy wine, this tour will present some
beautiful scenery and great atmosphere. Lunch is included. Because some people
may not taste any wines while others will enjoy as many as possible, you are
responsible for your own tasting fees. However, many wineries include a glass
with their logo as part of the nominal tasting fee. Great souvenirs. Make
your friends at home jealous when you serve them wine in glasses with
California winery logos.

Beach Party BBQ- Open (Wednesday Night, June 25)
With the host hotel and convention located on the beach it would be criminal
not to have a beach party. The location and view alone is worth the price.
With a delicious meal included, you shouldn't miss this one.

Nethercutt Collection- 35 Openings left (Thursday, June 26)
The Nethercutt Collection is a world class museum dedicated to antique and
classic cars. If you love beautifully restored and historical cars in an
incredible setting, you shouldn't miss this guided tour. We filled the first
coach quickly and added a second coach to this popular event. We expect the
remaining seats to fill quickly as well and will not add a third coach. Get 'em
while they're hot.

AmTrak Excursion to Santa Barbara- Open (for now) (Friday, June 27)
This activity is multifaceted. We will be taking a train trip from Ventura
to beautiful Santa Barbara and back. You will enjoy ocean views, rolling
fields and mountain views while on the train. Santa Barbara has something for
everyone ..... beautiful beaches and ocean breezes, incredible restaurants,
antique shops, the most beautiful of the Spanish missions for you history buffs
and much, much more. People in Los Angeles drive hours to visit Santa
Barbara just to wander the streets and shops and absorb the atmosphere.

I know the main point of the convention is to take part in the multitude of
Corvair related events but you may also want to take advantage of some of the
"extracurricular" activities especially if you will be bringing your spouse,
family etc. with you. You may also want to come to the area the weekends
before and/or after to enjoy some of what Southern California has to offer. I
believe this convention is the first to be held entirely on weekdays.

In addition, for you budget minded folks, (What ...... budget minded Corvair
people?) you may want to consider hotels and motels other than the host.
The host hotel is the most convenient and closest to events and other
conventioneers but you may be able put the money you save towards parts, gasoline
costs (gasp) or .......... a tour or two.

You shouldn't miss this one folks. Go to the CORSA web site and navigate
the page for the convention.

Please copy this message and forward it to other club members and friends
who do not belong to VV.
