I might have tried soldering a brass rod onto the float and pulling the dent
out. Works on brass instruments.

Thanks to all who responded to my request for a Carter YH float to replace
my dented one. I now have one on the way. In the meantime I tried undenting
it, including submerging in boiling water, but it did no good. Thanks for
all the suggestions!
