Since the VV's became a CORSA committee and not a SIG, Vair org no longers appoints the chair. CORSA chairs are appointed by the CORSA president. Vairorg has issued recomendations to the president before and they have been accepted in the past.

Vairorg hasn't been very active in the last few years and since we have been leaderless. I know I never though about getting VO to make a recommendation for the current opening.

We need to be a little more active in the future.

Just my thoughts,

Dennis

And Smitty and I agree on a lot more than we did 20 or 15 years ago. > > When I was Chairman, I saw to it that the V V meeting was held early in the week. And also scheduled it to be the last meeting of the night, so afterwards folks could sit around together and talk, no incoming meeting or anything to do after the end of the meeting. > > Garth did have the meeting on wed. at Buffalo, but it was scheduled at the same time as the dinner cruise. Even Vairorg members had tickets for the Miss Buffalo cruise. And I don't blame them for going on the cruise instead of the meeting. I grew up on that river and when I go home I always take an evening cruise, even though I'm also out on friends boats, skiing and such during my week at home. One can't expect a meeting of an internet group to compete against something like a dinner cruise or other such event. > > I'm a little surprised at Vairorg. I've not been reading much lately as I'm just too busy with other matters. But I didn't even know the Chairman's post was empty, and Vairorg has not done anything about it. I've disagreed with all of them at one time or another, but overall they have my respect. I just don't see where the apathy came from. > > The Internet Committee chair is also therefore empty, and our much vaunted BoD knows that as well. Unless some decision was made at the meeting, that chair remains empty also. > > Scott's public post---When I was Chairman I attended the conventions, ran my meeting and enjoyed both. The current situation obviously lies at the feet of Vairorg, who could have worked out the scheduling of the meeting with the convention chairman far in advance, and the BoD, of which you are now again a member. > > We're not in the Navy anymore Scott--forget about their issue resolution process of > 1.Assign Blame--preferably to someone else or another dep't/squadron, etc --anyone but yourself and your unit. > 2.Fix problem--MAYBE> > Nothing personal Scott--Not offended by your condescension. A Director is supposed to know better, and this isn't your first trip to the rodeo....> > Color me intrigued as to these recent turns of events, and the apparent apathy of those who control this list and the club in dealing with them. > > As a past Chairman, the Vairorg member who wrote the OP should have taken the initiative and sat the members and ran the meeting. Obviously the need for a V V Chairman and an Internet Committee Chairman should have been on the non-existant agenda and resolved at a National Convention Meeting. > > But that's just my opinion. Your mileage may vary. > > Hank
