<VV> no electrical power

Some cars had higher output alternators, but not all. The ones with up
powered lights had a separate wire from the alternator output to the front of the
car. 10 for 10, in my case, sounds like a poor design. And let's face it our
cars, like all cars, are never perfectly designed.

This is NOT a
part that should EVER require maintenance. The only reason I've ever had to
touch this connection is because it failed.

All, For what it's worth, how about the reasons the HRPT has failed. I've
never had one fail, but the ones I have seen fail fell into the following
categories (or like accidents) because of a combination of them.

    1. New accessories that require higher current (and usually a higher
output alternator) like a high output blower, driving lights, high powered
audio systems etc..
    2. Car sitting for long period that allowed corrosion to affect the
electrical connections.
    3. Overtightening of the part.
    4. Really bad case of overcharging that sprayed engine compartment
with acid from the overcharged battery (plastic choke pulloffs especially).

All the failures I have seen seemed to have been caused by a combination of
the above.
